About Us

Meet Dr. Margie Downes

Dr. Margie Downes received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1991, and has over 30 years' experience.

The practice looks for root causes rather than treating symptoms, with a focus on creating health from within and educating patients toward proactive wellness. Compassionate, family-centered care, with modern technology combined with experience.

“Our purpose is simple: we want to educate and adjust as many families as possible towards optimal health through all-natural chiropractic care.”

Our Approach

Your body is designed to heal itself

It’s fully capable of healing and creating optimal health from within when there is no interference blocking it. Your nervous system is the master controller of your body and regulates every system and function. Chiropractors are much more than just “back doctors” — we’re nervous system doctors, looking for misalignments, joints that are “sticky” and not moving properly, and areas of tension that impact nerve function.

Using gentle, effective adjustments, we free your nervous system of interference and help restore your body’s innate healing ability. Our adjusting methods:

  • Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®)
  • Diversified
  • Gonstead
  • ArthroStim®

Our Signature System of Care

A blueprint for your spine

A thorough analysis and X-rays — like a blueprint of your spine — allow us to create a custom care plan to correct the problem, enhance your health and quality of life, and preserve the integrity of your nervous system. It also includes periodic exams to assess your progress, an in-house exercise program for posture correction, and customized protocols for nutrition and lifestyle changes. Depending on your body’s needs, your plan may also include Erchonia® laser therapy for a faster healing response.

Your nervous system regulates every system and function of the body. If there is interference in your nervous system, it can’t work as it should, and that affects your overall health. Using gentle, effective chiropractic adjustments, we correct the issues in your spine, freeing your nervous system of interference and helping to restore your body’s innate healing ability.

Dr. Downes applies the techniques most beneficial for your needs: Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®), Diversified, Gonstead and ArthroStim®.

Cold laser therapy, also known as low level light therapy, directs specific frequencies of red, violet and/or green light through the skin into the tissues below. The light stimulates mitochondria to increase ATP production, enhancing cellular energy and healing capabilities.

It’s non-invasive and targets pain without drugs or surgery. Sessions last 5–20 minutes and are painless with no recovery time. Used for lower back pain, neck pain, arthritis, shoulder injuries, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and hip mobility concerns, and particularly effective for scar tissue healing and chronic conditions unresponsive to other treatments.

“The laser itself is very relaxing and some people actually fall asleep.” Package discounts are offered since most insurance doesn’t yet cover laser therapy.

A strong foundation requires three essential pillars: nutrition, exercise and rest. “Nutrition provides you with the necessary fuel to keep your body feeling its best.”

Personalized nutrition programs are built after analyzing your individual signs and symptoms, with attention to factors like lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity. Dr. Downes periodically reviews your progress using food journals. Nutritional supplements and products are available from Carlson, Ortho Molecular, Wuji and Anabolic Labs.

“Your posture is the window to your spine.” Assessment begins from the feet upward — knees, pelvis and spine — to identify deviations affecting biomechanics, and X-rays confirm findings. Care includes spinal adjustments, simple exercises, and education on proper posture while sitting, standing and sleeping, including strategies for “posture potholes.”

Benefits: improved energy levels, reduced injury risk, less bodily wear and tear, better stress adaptation, enhanced mood and improved adjustment retention.

We recommend progesterone cream because of the role progesterone plays as a hormone balancer. Optimal progesterone levels are foundational for women to enjoy good health and wellness — for any woman with hormone imbalance, going through menopause, post-hysterectomy, or needing support with pregnancy, fertility, post-partum or PMS/PMDD.

Studies have found that progesterone supports healthy thyroid function and balanced blood sugar, supports normal clotting, stimulates osteoblast activity (new bone tissue), and supports normal neuron development in the brain.

Natural chiropractic care can address the aches and pains of pregnancy without medication.

  • Preconception: helps the body be as strong, supple and balanced as possible to carry the pregnancy.
  • Pregnancy: can reduce back pain, nausea and other discomfort without drugs.
  • Webster Technique: developed by the late Larry Webster, D.C., it releases stress on the pelvis and helps babies get into the best birth position.
  • Labor and birth: care throughout pregnancy can help reduce labor time and the need for interventions.
  • After birth: we recommend your baby be adjusted as soon after birth as possible, using about the pressure used to check a tomato for ripeness.

We care for children from newborns through teenagers. Chiropractic can assist with brain development and critical motor skills, and help keep the immune system healthy. Early, preventative care helps children be as close to their 100 percent potential as possible.

Adjustments are gentle — about the pressure used to check a tomato for ripeness. Children typically need less frequent care than adults, and chiropractic can address posture problems, particularly from digital device use.
